How do I know if tutoring will help?

Personalized Attention: Before committing to any sessions, you will have a FREE Meet and Greet with a tutor. You will discuss your goals and the tutor will explain their initial thoughts on the plan to help you achieve your goals.

Tailored Learning Experience: Within the first few sessions, the tutor will assess your strengths and weaknesses, connect with your classroom teacher (if available), and then create learning goals with you using our Success Strategy template. This document will outline the areas you’ll be working on in sessions which is tailored to your learning needs and may include past concepts and upcoming concepts you’ll be learning in class at school.

Boost in confidence: Struggling with grades can often affect a student's confidence. Our tutors are not only focused on improving academic performance but also on building your child's self-esteem and belief in their abilities. Receiving targeted support, tracking their progress over time, and proactively introducing your child to concepts before they learn them at school, can help them gain the confidence needed to overcome academic challenges.

Progress Tracking: We understand the importance of tracking academic progress. With our Success Strategy, we monitor your child's development, identifying areas of improvement and celebrating milestones by updating the document after each session. This helps both you and your child stay informed and motivated throughout their educational journey.

Convenient learning environment: Online tutoring services offer the advantage of providing a comfortable learning environment. Your child can receive one-on-one support in the comfort of their own space, reducing distractions and allowing for focused learning. Additionally, online tutoring provides flexibility, enabling your child to access tutoring sessions from anywhere with an internet connection.

Do your tutors communicate with the classroom teacher?

With your permission, one of our team members will reach out to the classroom teacher(s) to gain insight into the order they’ll be covering the curriculum in class and if they have any advice about what the tutor should focus on with you. This information will be shared with the tutor and incorporated into the learning goal plan (Success Strategy) for the tutoring sessions.

What qualifications do you require your tutors to have?

Our tutors are all provincially certified teachers (excluding our language and post-secondary tutors), who have experience teaching the specific grade and subject(s) you need help with. They will have a deep understanding of the subject matter, school curriculum, and course expectations to help you thrive at school!

Are your tutors flexible with days and times?

Our tutors list their availability on their profile so you can view their available days/times here while you’re viewing their bio. The sessions are typically the same days/times week-to-week, but you may reschedule or cancel sessions as needed (we just ask for a minimum of 24 hours’ notice). If your availability is limited, let us know and we can find a tutor who has the flexibility to accommodate.

What is the process for getting matched with a tutor?

1. At Diamond Teachers Group, we like to provide different ways for you to connect with a tutor:
   a) You may review tutor profiles yourself here and book a FREE Meet and Greet with anyone who you think may be a good match.

   b) You may book a video call with Julie here, or give us a call 1-800-428-8164, to share your (child’s) learning needs and answer a few questions so we can better understand to find you the best tutor. After the call, we will send you a couple of tutor profiles to review based on your chat.

2. Once you’ve chosen a tutor you’d like to meet, you may schedule a FREE Meet and Greet with them. This is a meeting to allow your child and you the opportunity to meet the tutor, ask questions, discuss your goals, and explore the online platform to see if you’d like to move forward together.

3. If all goes well, then you can opt to schedule sessions with the tutor. You can book sessions either online through your account with us by logging in here (once your account is set up) or with one of our team members. We recommend scheduling consistent weekly sessions with your tutor to allow you and them to establish a rapport and create a learning plan together.

4. Within the first few sessions, your tutor will assess any learning gaps, connect with the classroom teacher, and speak with you about the plan moving forward. Using our Success Strategy Template, the tutor will create 3-5 learning goals that they’ll use as a framework for the sessions which will also be aligned to the school curriculum. The goal is to close learning gaps and ideally introduce you to material ahead of time to build confidence.

Do you offer in-person tutoring?

We do not offer in-person tutoring. Our sessions are all online using our interactive tutoring platform that uses educational tools to bring the material to life and engage younger and older learners. Is your tutoring 1 to 1 or group sessions?

We offer both 1 to 1 and group sessions.
Please note that our 1 to 1 sessions include a tailored lesson plan (Success Strategy) while our group sessions do not.

Which subjects do you offer tutoring for?

We offer tutoring for the following:

1. All grades and subjects at the elementary and secondary levels

2. Tailored strategies and support from an experienced teacher for students with Special Needs

3. Effective note-taking, study, and test prep strategies to help your child stay organized and ahead of class.

4. Language tutoring for English, French, Spanish, and more.

5. We recently collaborated with a mindfulness teacher to offer a 6-week course on Mindfulness for Kids.

How much do your sessions cost?

The price of sessions varies depending on the grade/subject, the length of the sessions, and any additional support that may be requested.

1 to 1 sessions typically range between $40-80 while group sessions range between $20-45 (depending on the number of students).

We also offer add-on services including essay editing, homework assignments for extra practice, IEP consultations, and more. Please contact us for more information.

Do you offer any FREE sessions?

We offer a FREE workshop every month. The workshops focus on different subjects or skills each month and are scheduled on a specific day and time. Click here to learn more and RSVP for our next workshop! Do you have an idea for a workshop? Send us an email here.

What is your cancellation policy if I want to terminate my sessions?

We ask for 24 hours’ notice to cancel individual sessions but do not have a cancellation policy for terminating sessions altogether. If you aren’t happy, we don’t think it’s fair to continue paying for sessions you don’t want. Please call us 1-800-428-8164 to discuss your options.

What if a tutoring option is not listed on your booking page?

If you do not see your province, or subject, listed on our booking page here, please text us 1-800-428-8164. In most cases, we have tutors from different provinces and/or with various qualifications that may not all be listed on our website.
